The Florida Hickory Golfers kicked off new year of hickory events with the membership at Southport Springs Golf Club in Zephyrhills. It was a brisk morning but got very pleasant as the day wore on. Post round we were treated to an excellent spread courtesy of club director Earl Hines. As this has become an annual event, Earl generously created a trophy to celebrate the top golfer of the day. That individual would be James Chambers who made 10 points more than his quota requirement, edging Stephen Bennett by a single point. Overall, the play was good with several people making their quota or more. Attached also is the first standings for the Race to Mount Dora end of year tournament.
In our team blind draw, Beth Chambers and Steve Haigler knocked off husband James and Scott Bowles in a scorecard playoff pocketing $50.
