FHG Holds 2017 Mt Dora Holiday Match

unnamedIt was a glorious weekend in Mount Dora for our annual FHG gathering and tournament. This year the competition encompassed two days of golf to qualify for the Championship Trophies. On Friday we golfed at the County Club of Mount Dora for the first time. Will Peterson forged ahead with 30 Stableford points and Mike Hobson took the quota differential at +7. There was a three-way tie in the blind draw with the teams of Bill Geisler/Sally Shiff, Tom McCrary/David Webster and Shawn Pierson/James Chambers splitting the $30 pot.

unnamed-1On Saturday it was back to Mount Dora Golf Club’s historic links where Will Peterson (above left) demolished the field with another fine effort cumulating a two-day total of 64 points followed by yours truly Mike Stevens (52) who made 9 consecutive pars on the back nine. Big congratulation to new comer Sally Shiff (below left) who took the Quota Differential crown at +10 and pocketed a staggering sum of $25 for the weekend.

unnamed-2Friday night the group celebrated with dinner at the old Lakeside Inn and after many took a stroll through town which was decorated to the hilt for the Christmas season.

Merry Christmas to all. Look forward to seeing many of you at our 2018 events!

  1. Excellent report. Will be spending the month of April at The Villages and am looking for individuals, or a group at the complex for some hickory golf. If there are any group events in that time frame, not too far from my location, would love to join in.

Long time Vermont/Ct hickory player. Have clubs and do travel. Ulster7@yahoo.com, 203-305-1949.
