The Inaugural Winter Park Hickory Classic is in the books and the winners are finding places for their trophies right now. It was a fabulous weekend for all, with a great kickoff party Friday Night, 18 holes of hickory golf on Saturday, another nine holes on Sunday and a final Awards Party Sunday afternoon. And the weather was perfect the entire time!
GolfWeek had a photographer and reporter at the event, so look for coverage there. Plenty of players found themselves posing for pictures with passersby, since the course cuts through the streets of downtown Winter Park. On the 9th tee, a group of Irish golf industry folks were stumped as to what was going on with the knickers and hickories, but they loved it. They were in town for the upcoming PGA show, and told us they couldn’t get on the WP9, which they wanted to play since they’d read about it so much!
