NW Hickory Players Earn Some Media Buzz

The Register-Guard of Eugene, Oregon, wrote a nice piece about an about the upcoming 2nd Annual Northwest Hickory Championships, by the Northwest Hickory Players.  It’s a far better-than-average overview of hickory in the upper left corner of the US and it includes several good pictures of our always well-dressed friend Rob Birman (below), among others.  Enjoy!

Paul Runyan Chats About Bobby Jones During His Masters Years

Although much is known about Bobby Jones’ life and career leading up to his retirement in 1930, his experiences as a player in 11 Masters tournaments has largely remained a mystery. Rarely competing after he officially stepped down, Jones played in almost every Masters from 1934 to 1948, his best finish a tie for 13th … More Paul Runyan Chats About Bobby Jones During His Masters Years

Louisville Unveils New Stewart-Inspired Irons

Mike Just of Louisville Golf recently sent out an email announcing the company’s much-anticipated Tom Stewart Heavy Sole model irons.  The entire collection is flanged and like Louisville’s recent Precision irons, the standard 7-club set is numbered 2 through 8. Club Fitting The Phil Mickelson Way

Callaway Golf has posted a pretty darn interesting interview with Phil Mickelson on club fitting.  The show is called The Fitting Room and the episode is Phil Mickelson’s Fitting Secrets. It runs for 16:24.  Obviously, some of this is a promotion for Callaway, and there’s NOTHING here about hickory clubs. But Phil’s take on fitting is quite unique. … More Club Fitting The Phil Mickelson Way

PGA Tour Players Hit Vintage Clubs at Northern Trust

PGA.com has posted a nice article about some tour pros hitting “vintage” clubs at the Northern Trust to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the event.  These vintage clubs range from true hickory-shafted woods through early metal woods from the 1990s (ancient stuff when you’re 22, huh?).  A video is included, the best part of which is … More PGA Tour Players Hit Vintage Clubs at Northern Trust

Lexi Thompson Goes Retro For Red Bull

To celebrate the 1904 Olympics – the last time golf was included in that shindig – LPGA star Lexi Thompson agreed to a photo shoot for Red Bull depicting her in 1904 clothing playing with hickory clubs.  The black and white photos are pretty amazing – Lexi really looks the part.  Weirdly, in the modern video interview, the make-up … More Lexi Thompson Goes Retro For Red Bull
